- BMO InvestorLine Self-Directed accounts offer you the ability to have full control over your investments and provide you with industry leading research, support, and trading tools for one low fee of $9.95 per trade.
- For Self-Directed accounts there are no minimum account balances or account fees on accounts with balances over $15,000. Self-Directed accounts benefit from a flat fee per trade of $9.95 with 80 commission free ETFs. For more information on fees and what is included in fees click here.
- 5-Star is BMO InvestorLine’s premium VIP offering for clients with over $250,000 in assets and 15 or more trades per quarter. The 5-Star program has three tiers and offers preferred pricing, advanced tools and research and dedicated support.

- You can open any number of accounts with BMO InvestorLine including Non-Registered accounts (single, joint, cash, margin) Registered accounts (TFSA, RRSP, RESP, RRIF), Locked-in accounts (LIRA, LIF, LRIF, LRSP, RLIFs and RLSP), Corporate and Non-Personal Accounts.
- Yes! Once you have successfully completed your online application and funded your account you will be able to start trading.
- At this time, for you to switch your existing Self-Directed account to adviceDirect please submit this form and we will give you a call at your earliest convenience or give us a call at 1-888-776-6886 to initiate the process. We will walk you through the process to update the appropriate forms and information on file and make sure the process goes smoothly for you.
- For existing clients you can use the “Transfer accounts” tab under “Move Money” to start the process for eligible institutions. For new clients you’ll need to open a new account by clicking here and completing the application. When you get to the “Fund Your Account” section select the “Transfer an Account” link and complete the required Authorization to Transfer Account form.
- Transfer times vary depending on the institution and the investments being transferred. It can take anywhere from two to six weeks. For more information see our FAQs.
