Business credit card online management frequently asked questions
Corporate Billed accounts:
At the end of each billing cycle, the balances on all individual cardholder accounts roll up to the company-level account, creating a new company-level balance. This brings all cardholder account balances to zero and “refreshes” the spend availability for each cardholder. For example, if the account billing cycle ends January 31, then the individual cardholder balances reset on February 1. footnote 2
Individually Billed accounts:
At the end of each billing cycle, the balances on all individual cardholder accounts will be billed and sent to each individual cardholders for payment. Balances for all individual cardholders will be updated the next business day after a payment is made at the individual cardholder level.
Corporate Billed accounts:
Yes, a payment can be made on the individual cardholder level. Once the payment posts, funds become available at the individual cardholder and company account levels. Payment will post as a memo on the individual account, and post as a payment on the corporate account. Always refer to the Total New Balance, Payment Due Date and Minimum Payment Due at the company-level account (corporate bill) for the most current information.
Individually Billed accounts:
Yes, payment should always be made to individual cardholder accounts. Once the payment posts, the funds become available at the individual cardholder level. Payments are applied to that cardholder account as soon as the payment is processed, regardless of when the payment is made during the billing cycle.
Corporate Billed accounts:
If a payment was made at the company level, then the cardholder’s spend availability will refresh at the start of the new billing cycle. If a payment was made on the individual cardholder level, then the company level account may have a higher balance that might need to be paid (other individual cardholder balances or previous balances). Please verify balance and availability on both the individual cardholder and company account levels.
Individually Billed accounts:
If a payment was made at the individual cardholder level, then once the payment posts, the funds become available to the cardholder. If a payment was made at the individual cardholder level, then the company level account may have a higher balance that might need to be paid (other individual cardholder balances or previous balances). Please verify balance and availability on both the individual cardholder and company account levels.
Corporate Billed accounts:
If spend availability is needed at the cardholder level, then:
- Make a payment at the individual cardholder account level; or
- Increase the limit on the individual cardholder account. (As a reminder, the total credit limit of all cardholder accounts cannot exceed the limit of the Company account.)
If spend availability is needed at the company level, then:
- Make a payment at the company level. The payment will be applied against the company balance as soon as the payment is processed.
Individually Billed accounts:
If spend availability is needed at the cardholder level, then make a payment at the individual cardholder account level.
Payments on the credit card account can be made the following ways:
- Business credit card online access
- Call the phone number on the back of your credit card by 4 p.m. CT for funds to post by the next business day.
- BMO branch (2-3 business days to post)
- Mail (5-7 business days to post)
- Footnote star details For accounts billed at the company level, it is advised to pay at the company level account as an administrator to ensure that the payment due is satisfied.
