U.S. Government Shutdown: Financial relief for impacted customers

IMPORTANT UPDATES

Financial relief for Checking and Money Market customers

Relief assistance includes:

  • Monthly maintenance fees and Non-BMO ATM Transaction fees will be waived. footnote 1 ATM surcharge fees charged by the ATM owner or operator will still apply.
  • Overdraft fees will be waived. footnote 1

  • For personal accounts only: We'll continue to use our discretion to pay items that overdraw the account when sufficient funds are not available (excludes BMO Smart Money Checking).

  • Please visit your local branch or call us at 888-340-2265 to benefit from relief assistance.
For assistance with CD Early Withdrawal Penalties footnote 1 associated with a CD partial withdrawal or early CD closure, please visit your local branch or call us at 888-340-2265.
Assistance will be offered starting on October 1, 2025, and will end two weeks after the shutdown is over.

  • If your account is current when you apply for relief, we will continue to report you as current during the period in which your relief is granted. If your account was delinquent when you applied for relief, we will continue to report your account as delinquent, unless and until you bring your account current.
