Help protect yourself with BMO Alerts

Learn how activating BMO Alerts can help keep your accounts safe and secure.

Fraud and cyber attacks are becoming more common and complex every day. One of the best things you can do to help protect your accounts is to stay on top of your transactions.  

What are BMO Alerts?  

With BMO Alerts, you can get notifications about transactions on your accounts. BMO Alerts are split into three categories: bank account, credit card and line of credit. 

It’s up to you to choose and customize your alerts so you get all the info you want to help keep your accounts safe and secure.  

For example, you could set up your BMO Alerts to be notified of the following account activity:  

  • large transactions 
  • contact info changes 
  • international transactions 

You can change your BMO Alerts at any time. 

How to set up BMO Alerts – It's easy  

Setting up BMO Alerts is simple and fast. Here’s how to get started in four easy steps:  

With mobile banking:  

  1. Sign in to the BMO Mobile banking app. 
  2. Select the profile icon in the top right corner, then select “Manage alerts.” 
  3. Review your contact info, select “Quick setup” or “Advanced settings” and choose the alerts you’d like to receive. 
  4. Ensure that you have set your security alerts to “On.” 

With online banking:  

  1. Go to bmo.com and sign in to BMO Online Banking. 
  2. Click “Profile & Settings” on the top right, then under “Settings,” select “Alert preferences.” 
  3. Choose the alerts you want us to send and set the dollar amounts. 
  4. Ensure that you have set your security alerts to “On.”

Remember: Protecting your identity and finances is a joint effort. We work around the clock to keep you safe, but you also have an important role to play. BMO Alerts can help give you peace of mind because you can set them up so you will be notified of activity or transactions from your accounts.
