What is Alexa?
Alexa is Amazon’s cloud-based voice service—and it’s available through any Alexa-enabled device. With Alexa, you can ask to play music, hear the news, check the weather, control smart home devices, and more.
And now with the BMO skill, you can ask questions about BMO branches and ATMs, credit cards, bank accounts, and exchange rates. Plus, get answers to some frequently asked questions.
Where can I get Alexa?
To chat with Alexa, you need an Alexa-enabled device, such as Amazon Echo, Echo Plus and Echo Dot. You can buy these devices from Amazon and other retailers.
What is an Alexa skill?
Like apps on your phone, Alexa offers many capabilities—or “skills”— that provide unique experiences. Once you set up your Alexa device, you can enable different skills to match your interests, whether it’s banking, recipes or the weather. You can start by testing out the BMO skill, which gives you information about our locations, bank accounts, exchange rates and more.
What can I talk to the BMO skill about?
First, enable the BMO skill and say “Alexa, open BMO.” From there, you can ask Alexa to find your nearest Branch or ATM, look up foreign exchange rates, and learn about BMO bank accounts and credit cards. Plus, get answers to your general questions.
Tip: If you’d like to find nearby locations, first enable Location Permissions in your Alexa app.
Can you give me some examples?
We sure can. Once you’ve enabled the skill, you can ask Alexa specific questions. Start by saying “Alexa, ask BMO” and follow it up with one of the following, for example:
- “How much does 400 U.S. Dollars cost?”1
- “Can you help me find a savings account?”
- “Where is my nearest BMO branch?”
- “How do I activate my new card?”
Do I need to sign in to my BMO account?
Nope. Once you’ve enabled the skill, you’re ready to start chatting with Alexa. You can ask about BMO locations, general details on bank accounts and credit cards, exchanges rates, and more.
