Lost or stolen credit cards

If your credit card is missing, you should act quickly to keep your account safe. Now you can do it online or on your mobile device in minutes.

 

If you think you might find your credit card, you can temporarily lock it or reset your PIN. If your card is lost or has been stolen, you can report it to us and we’ll send you a new one.

What do you want to do?

  • Online Banking

    1. Sign in to Online Banking.

    2. Go to My Accounts and select your card from the menu on the left.

    3. Select Report a Lost or Stolen Card from the menu on the left.

  • Mobile Banking

    1. Sign in to Mobile Banking.
    2. Select your credit card and then Manage cards on the card detail page (gear icon.)
    3. Select Replace lost or stolen card.
    4. Track the delivery status of your new card – it may take up to one business day to show up. View the tracker.

  • Online Banking

    1. Sign in to Online Banking.

    2. Go to My Accounts and select the card you want to lock.

    3. Select Manage card from the list of options and select Lock this card.

  • Mobile Banking

    1. Sign in to Mobile Banking.

    2. Select your credit card and then Manage cards on the card detail page (gear icon.)

    3. Select Lock or unlock card.

  • Online Banking

    1. Sign in to Online Banking.

    2. Go to My Accounts and select your card from the menu on the left.

    3. Select Change My PIN.

    4. Activate your new PIN by making an in-store purchase or transaction at a BMO ATM (like withdrawing cash).

    1. Sign in to Mobile Banking.

    2. Select More and then Manage cards.

    3. Select Change my PIN.

Lost or stolen credit card FAQ

  • If you think your credit card has been lost, stolen or if you notice unusual activity on your account, notify us as soon as possible. You can quickly and easily report your card as lost or stolen through Online Banking or Mobile Banking. You can also visit your nearest branch to report your missing card.

  • Reset your PIN without missing a beat by signing in to Online Banking or the mobile app. From there, simply change your PIN and activate it the next time you make an in-store purchase or visit an ATM.

  • Keep your credit card safe and protect yourself from fraud with a few simple steps:

    1. Never share your PIN with anyone

    2. Sign your card and protect your documents including statements and bills

    3. Don’t let anyone who isn’t an authorized user access your card

    4. Monitor your statements for suspicious or unusual activity

    5. Regularly check your credit score with
