BMO Preferred Program for Investors FAQs

  • Individual clients and/or households that have a minimum of $500,000 CAD in Mutual Fund balances to invest.

If a member leaves a household, the remaining members will need to maintain the minimum $500,000 CAD in Mutual Fund balances to continue to participate.

  • Your household may include your spouse, partner, parents, children, grandchildren, grandparents, in-laws, siblings and eligible business accounts.

  • Yes, you do not need to combine accounts, share access, or let your household know how much balances you hold in your own investment accounts. Family members may be able to infer the amount of balances of an entire group given the amount of fee reductions, but they have no direct insight into other member’s accounts.

  • Depending on your overall investable balances, you will pay a lower fee compared to the equivalent Series A or Series T fund's trailing commission fee with this fee-based program.

The more you and/or your household grow your Investments within the BMO Preferred Program for Investors, the greater your potential savings.

  • Most BMO Mutual Funds qualify in all available investment accounts, including:

    • Non-registered investment accounts
    • Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP)
    • Tax-Free Savings Account (TFSA)
    • Registered Retirement Income Fund (RRIF)
    • Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP)
    • First Home Savings Account (FHSA)
    • Registered Disability Savings Plan (RDSP)
  • In the event your overall investable balances falls below the minimum program requirement due to market fluctuations, you may remain in the program. However, you will not be receiving a reduced fee compared to the equivalent Series A or Series T fund's trailing commission fee until your investment balances regain the minimum program requirement.
